Reading Enabling Works
The £425 Million Reading area remodelling project has to deliver a 37% improvement in train service reliability in the Reading area by 2015. Much of the current track layout and signalling system severely limits the number of services that can travel through the station and in preparation for the main re-modelling works, signalling enabling works on this project began in June 2009. Working under direct management of Westinghouse Rail, Rail Tech installation teams are currently undertaking a wide range of activities aimed at predominately achieving release of signalling control from Reading signal box to Thames Valley. The installation teams have been involved in a wide range of activities and during the enabling works have remained flexible in an ever changing work programme. Indications suggest that work demand will remain constant until well into April 2010 with the main re-modelling works commencing in April 2011.
