The Prince's Trust and Rail Tech Training helps change young lives
Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year.
The Prince's Trust addresses this by giving practical and financial support to the young people who need it most. They help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education or training.
Here at Rail Tech we have teamed up with the Prince's Trust in order to deliver a unique youth training programme for young people who may be interested in working in the rail sector.
It's designed for candidates to firstly achieve competence in track safety through the attainment of a Personal Track Safety Certificate (PTS), required to work on or access the rail network.
The program is then tailored to develop skills and enthusiasm for the rail industry, delivered through a three week hands-on training programme.
During the three weeks candidates will spend time at Rail Tech's Training Academy learning about various topics such as railway signalling, operating small tools and plant and, where practical, will even experience visiting and working on the railway.

The first course is set to run in May 2009. For further information please contact Gary Brackley on 01473 242350 or visit http://www.princes-trust.org.uk/.
