Leading Edge Training Academy Unveiled

Lord Tony Berkeley the Chairman of the Rail Freight Group performed the opening ceremony at the official unveiling of the Rail Tech Group's new one million pound Training Academy. During his speech he commended his hosts for having the foresight and determination to make high-level investments in training at a time when many others in the industry are downsizing. In his speech Simon Jamieson the Managing Director of Rail Tech outlined the group's philosophy, which is, to deliver confidence through competence. This philosophy permeates throughout every aspect of the organisation. He believes, without the correct skills and knowledge experience is not enough. Likewise, knowledge can be dangerous without adequate practice and experience. The new Academy will provide the opportunity for both customers and employees to train on full-scale simulators. In the long-term continuous assessment to ensure that competence remains in place and relevant will be the company's number one priority. It was also announced at the event that in February the company had received interim approval for a Contractors Assurance Case from Network Rail. This enables Rail Tech Group to manage themselves and others in the delivery of Signalling Installation and Maintenance as a first tier supplier on the national Rail Network. The new training facility is the latest milestone to be achieved by the company. This comes as a result of ongoing investment, which has seen it develop over the years into one of the most highly regarded organisations of its type in the industry.
